Thoughts On The Matchup—

Owensboro Catholic invades Daviess Co High School looking to get to (2-0) in the 9th district while the Lady Panthers are looking to get their first District win of the season. The Lady Aces, led by HC Michael Robertson are coming in as one of the top 15 teams in Kentucky and the only blemish thus far is a loss AT Sacred Heart. The Lady Aces will put one of the best starting 5’s in West Ky on the floor tonight. Daviess Co is coming off an upset win VS Breckinridge Co on Monday night. Head Coach Natalie Payne has rejuvenated the Lady Panther program, one that had become stagnant and mediocre at best over the last several seasons. Lady Aces star & 3RH First Teamer Hailee Johnson leads the Lady Aces who are the heavy favorites to win the 3rd Region Title but the Lady Aces, as mentioned above, have as good of a starting 5 as you’ll find in the area. Karmin Riley, Aubrey Randolph & Delaney Cooper can each get you 15-20 points on any given night & Senior Jenna Krampe has mastered her role in that locker room to a T. Daviess County is led Lily Hoagland who’s playing at a high level coming into tonight’s contest. Kennedy Lane is an offensive magician & can erupt at any moment. Zoey Beehn holds down the fort inside and is a glass eater for Coach Payne. DC will have to handle the defensive pressure of O’Cath if they want to keep this game competitive. This game will feature two of the best coaches in West Kentucky in the aforementioned mentioned Natalie Payne & Michael Robertson.

Thoughts On The Matchup—

O’Cath Sophomore Sully Smith makes his long awaited and much anticipated varsity debut for HC Tim Riley. Smith is expected to be one of the best downhill guards in the region & the matchup between he & Moss should be a dandy. Luke Beikman is a budding star for the Aces & is perhaps one of the most the most, if not THE MOST underrated player in the 3rd Region but is nursing a minor hand injury that played a factor VS Apollo. Daviess Co’s DeAaron Watkins is a freak & scores it inside & out & Gage Phelps is.. well.. Gage Phelps! Jonathan Moss is a steady PG that holds the Keys to Neil Hayden’s offense. Daviess County can score in bunches but have been inconsistent defensively to start the season. O’Cath as we see them now, is NOT the O’Cath that we’ll see in a month but the O’Cath team we saw VS Apollo is NOT O’Cath team we’ll see tonight. Mark it down. The football kids are getting into basketball shape & you’ll see that start to show true VS the Panthers. Look for O’Cath to try to contain DC’s High powered offense & on the flip side, DC will want to get out to a hot start and jump on the Aces early. The Panthers have lost the last 4 meetings against O’Cath so look for the Panthers to continue to find motivation in somewhat of a “We’re Back” mission.
