Boys & Girls Game of The Week Recap

3rd Region Hoops— The first two 3RH Games of The Week of the 2023/24 season officially in the books. On Monday, we were in Brandenburg for The Lady Waves season opener VS Christian Academy of Louisville. Special shout out to Southwest Airlines who took phenomenal care of 3RH on the flights to & fro. On Tuesday we were at Apollo High School for the BOYS Game of The Week between Apollo & Hancock County. Thanks to both schools & communities for having us. Let’s look back at a quick review of both games, shall we?

Meade County VS CAL

Result – Meade County defeats CAL 83-59.

Highlights – Peyton Bradley surpasses 2,000 career points & the Lady Wave BIG 3 was dominant.

Review – it was all Meade County from start to finish, jumping out to a 20-7 lead at one point. The Meade County faithful were LOUD & the Pep section was great as well, considering it being the first game of the season. Much attention was brought to Lady Wave JR star Peyton Bradley surpassing 2k points, but it was an all out blitz of the Lady Centurians on Monday night. Annabelle Babb was dominant on both ends of the floor, scoring a game high 26 & putting the clamps on CAL super sophomore Brianna Wilkins from start to finish. Bradley played 2 minutes in the 3rd qtr due to foul trouble but the Lady Wave never missed a beat. Paige Medley caught fire from behind the arc & finished the game with 25. Wilkins and his bunch could never get closer than 14 points. An opening night result that HC Dina Hackert said even she was surprised by. Peyton Bradley was the 3RH Player of The Game!

3RH Final Thoughts – DONT TRY TO RUN WITH MEADE COUNTY. Simple as that.

What’s Next For Meade County – The Lady Wave Travel to Daviess County **courtesy of Southwest Airlines** in an intriguing early season Matchup.

Hancock County VS Apollo

Result – Apollo defeats Hancock County 60-49

Highlight – Ryne Tinsley picks up career win #1 as a HC!

Review – both teams entered the game in rebuild mode with Apollo and its upstart staff trying to change the culture & Hancock County starting over after graduating a decorated class of 2023. Apollo depended heavily on its highly touted freshman class & was eventually able to separate themselves and made shots. That really was the difference in the game, Apollo made Shots down the stretch. With the win, Apollo equals its win total from a season ago VS 3rd Region Opponents at.. 1. The bumps will come for both squads but it’s great to get that first win of the season. Tate Powers was the 3RH Player of The Game!

3RH Final Thoughts – We’ve felt pretty good all summer that Apollo would up its win total this season & they got off to a good start.

What’s Next For Apollo – The Eagles travel to Union County tonight. Good luck, Apollo!
