3rd Region Hoops— It’s Basketball Eve in the bluegrass & tomorrow we will have the 1st 3RH Girls Game of The Week of the 23/24 season between the Meade County Lady Wave & the CAL Lady Centurians from the 7th Region. Meade County is ranked #3 in the 3RH Preseason Top 10 & ranked #14 in the state by the Louisville Currier Journal.

Team Preview (CAL) —

Last season the Lady Centurians finished 20-10 overall & won the 28th District Championship.

Key loss— Mariah Knight (Transferred to Louisville Butler)

Key Returners—

Brianna Wilkins (Soph. guard)

*Led the team in scoring last season at 16.5 points per game & averaged 5 rebounds per game. Wilkins is one of the top underclassman in the state & is already a member of the 1,000 point club.

Bailee Duck (Junior guard)

*Averaged 10 points per game last season for the Lady Centurians. Comes in with multiple D-1 offers.

Savannah Gardner (Senior Guard/Forward)

*EKU Commit. Averaged 10 points per game but only appeared in 3 games for CAL last season.

Ella Daniels (Senior. Guard)

*Averaged 8 points per game last season & is committed to play collegiately at the University of Tampa!

Thoughts on the matchup:

This is a great test for the Lady Wave to start the season. Meade Co will rely heavily on Junior superstar Peyton Bradley to lead the squad but Annabelle Babb & Paige Medley will also carry a ton of weight for Coach Hackert’s latest crop. The biggest question mark in Brandenburg is where will they get the rest of their production. Savannah Triplett & Kaylee Rider are names to watch but both have limited varsity experience.
